# Conduit Bending Calculator (conduitbending.app)

Key facts (hand-bender trade values, US EMT):
- Offset: distance between bends = depth × multiplier; 10° = 6, 22.5° = 2.6, 30° = 2, 45° = 1.4, 60° = 1.2 (exact value 1 ÷ sin θ).
- Offset shrink per inch of depth: 10° = 1/16", 22.5° = 3/16", 30° = 1/4", 45° = 3/8", 60° = 1/2" (exact value tan(θ ÷ 2)). Add shrink to the measurement when bending toward an obstruction.
- 90° stub-up: mark = stub height − take-up. Take-up (deduct): 1/2" EMT 5", 3/4" EMT 6", 1" EMT 8", 1-1/4" EMT 11".
- 3-point saddle (45° center, 22.5° outer): outer marks 2.5 × depth either side of the center mark; move the center mark 3/16" per inch of depth. 60° center: 2.0 and 1/4". 90° center: 1.4 and 3/8".
- Back-to-back 90s: star point on the full distance with the bender reversed, or arrow on (distance − take-up) with the hook facing the first 90.
- Rolling offset: true offset = √(horizontal² + vertical²).
- Conduit fill (NEC Chapter 9, Table 1): 1 wire 53%, 2 wires 31%, 3+ wires 40%, nipples 24" or shorter 60%. 1/2" EMT holds 9 #12 THHN, 3/4" EMT 16, 1" EMT 26.
- Box fill (NEC 314.16): #14 = 2.00 in³, #12 = 2.25 in³, #10 = 2.50 in³; device yoke = 2 allowances; clamps = 1; up to 4 grounds = 1, each ground beyond 4 = 1/4 allowance (2020 NEC and later).
- The NEC limits bends between pull points to 360° total (for EMT, 358.26).
